It's no secret that eastern Kentucky is home to some of the best high school basketball teams in the country, and perhaps even the nation.
Brandon Knapper scored 25 points to end his career on a high as Eastern Kentucky beat Campbellsville 118-54 and Tre King contributed 24 points. Michael Jefferson had 10 points and 12 rebounds on January 31, while Brandon Knappers had 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting, tying his career high for Kentucky, 118-54, as it moved past Campbell's ville / Harrosburg. The Student - Weekly Newspaper of the University of Kentucky's Division I Press Association has won 10 awards in its competition for excellence at the Kentucky Newspaper Awards 2012. Since its inception in 2011, it has won all ten of these awards. An Eastern Kentucky man died on December 29, 2012, at age 35, in a car crash on his way to a basketball game.
Berea High School was Kentucky's No. Berea was led by senior guard Michael Jefferson and junior forward Tre King, who led the team with 20 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Campbells. Kentucky, which defeated Bere three times in the regular season, lost its 13th regional final in its first ever NCAA tournament.
Turley, who won 624 games as a high school head coach at Kentucky and was introduced to the court in August, began his coaching career with the Pirates. I am still very fortunate to have a relationship with Todd and am humbled to lead the Eagles into his 28th season as head coach and to be honored for that. Todd was welcomed into Berea when the Lady Pirates' Lady Knights program was headed by his former assistant Greg Todd and is currently in his second season as an assistant coach. Turley said he was still "very happy" to have had a "relationship" with Todd, but he was grateful for the opportunity.
If Wiebe receives the honor, Hemenway will have recruited four first-team All-Americans, including two of Kentucky State's top 10 players for the past two seasons. KY different websites list different Americans of the 1st team, so more than 5 are listed, but if there is a list, all are listed.
All-America honors for the last two seasons, as well as the first-team All-Kentucky State selection in each of the last two years.

Berea beat six of the teams in the KY Sweet 16 during the regular season, including four of them in a row, and then made it to the Final Four for the Sweet 16 at Richmond, Ky. After spending the entire season in what is arguably the toughest region in the state, Berea heads to Louisville for his first game - whether it's a game or not.
Hemenway said the 6ft 3in guard did not qualify for a medical rehab program, meaning his season as a senior is over. The senior guard from Gastonia, North Carolina, has hit double figures in his first two seasons at Berea. Much of the success has come from the transfer students Hemenways has recruited, such as junior college transfers from Kentucky State and Louisville.
He has been admitted to practice with the Commonwealth but has yet to be accepted into practice with the Commonwealth. He was also admitted to practice at the universities of Kentucky State and Louisville, as well as the University of Kentucky, Louisville State University and Kentucky Tech.
May Joy is an emeritus professor of physical education at the University of Kentucky, where she taught for 49 years. Before retiring, she was an assistant professor of physical education at Kentucky State University and held various positions, including deputy dean of academic affairs and deputy vice president of student affairs. During this time, she was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, director of student life, and vice chancellor of the School of Education.
The knights and knights "sports teams participated in numerous district, regional and regional championships and were also supervisors of the school's sports department. Her efforts to improve women's athletic opportunities were recognized when she received the National Association of Girls and Women in Sports award for being the person in the state with the highest number of female athletes in high school and college athletics.
The cross-country and track teams were very successful in their first two years in Berea. From 2000 to the 16th place in 2013, the cross-country team finished 11th in the national championships and was ranked in the top 10 of the Kentucky High School Athletics Association (KHSAA) national championships. The athletics and women's basketball teams had their best season in school history, finishing 10th to 14th in 2000 and 15th and 15th in 2012.
